Volcanic ash closing down Mexican airport once it enters Popocatepetl volcano eruption

City of Mexico - an airport which serves the fourth in Mexico suspended operations for seven hours due to the volcanic ash from the Popocatepetl volcano.

Puebla international airport was temporarily closed as a precautionary measure, said Puebla Herbert Lopez Palma Airport spokesman.

The airport reopened its doors since ash left from falling and landing strips were cleaned, Palma said.

The temporary closure affected six domestic and international flights to Houston and Dallas, Texas.

The airport is East of the city of Mexico and about 20 miles (30 kilometers) 17.886 foot (5,450-meter) volcano.
