Shelter theft sets women, families again

SAN BERNARDINO - a shelter for homeless women nonprofit was stolen and looted on Tuesday night, according to the administrators of the refuge.

Time for change Foundation, which provides emergency services for homeless women and children in the block of 2900 Mt. View Avenue North, was apparently stolen while the women and children attended classes of "Mommy and me", according to spokesman John Kunkel.

"I do an effort should not be taken as personal things, but inside I'm crying because I feel women pain and despair that arises when they feel like giving up when something happens", said Kim Carter, Director Executive of time Foundation for change. "Remember, that these families are among the least of us and work so hard to rebuild their lives and are making the transition from home to self-reliance".

Thieves entered through a closed window in the back and apparently took bus passes, laundry of coins, speakers, Payless Shoe Source, dress shoes and team of the client job search interview still wrapped in the bag, said Kunkel.

Inheritances, property of a resident were also taken.

"My grandmother left me her jewelry when she died," said 23 year old Amanda Bolin. "That's all that he had to remember it, and went to who took it." Do you take how women who have nothing and are trying to rebuild their lives."

Materials are not the only thing that thieves took, also stole a sense of security the residents had.

"We come from an unsafe environment and finally get to a place where we can feel secure," said 32-year-old resident Crystal Rodr?guez. "This brings bad memories, and again puts us in a place where you do not want to be."

Refuge managers found the House in disarray, but also some damaged accessories and destroyed children's bed.

"We're all devastated in time for the Foundation changed by this event,", said Kunkel. "We are living in times when the current economic climate is not very good, and the fact that donations are extremely low makes it difficult for an organization like ours."
