Anyone who knows me knows that I have a penchant for cake cheese vegan and other baked goods, but I am also very friend of frozen desserts dairy. I spent the weekend of Memorial Day in Sarasota Siesta Beach, not only because it was voted number one the country's Beach, but because Sub Zero, the string of innovative ice cream using liquid nitrogen to freeze custom-made desserts frozen instantly, has a new location in 219 wood Avenue, next to the beach. Sub Zero – that appeared on ABC Shark Tank - is not exclusively vegan, but customers can choose almond, rice or soymilk (depending on location) as a basis for their ice cream, and the majority of 47 standard flavors of Sub Zero is vegan. (Ask the staff for confirmation). Sub Zero also offers a few vegan "aggregates", including fruits, nuts, coconut and Oreos, and will also make vegan smoothies, milkshakes and icy feet.
Although personally I have not tested any of these concoctions, I've inhaled - er, eat - some delicacies from the store's Sub Zero 4065 Clark Rd. Sarasota: ice cream cherry of mixed berries, white chocolate with Oreos, mint with a hint of biscuit and my own custom mix special of pumpkin and cinnamon with walnuts. I chose the almond milk as the basis for all of them, and they were all delicious. I asked "creamy" soft serve, but Sub Zero offers two other consistencies or "chill factors," If you want to.
The next time I go, I'm thinking I'm going to a ball of Blueberry, strawberry, and vanilla - you know that patriotic. If you also want to start summer with a free cow ice cream (and I am sure that it will go I after reading comments of Ryan Gosling revealed over cattle dehorning) look for a Sub zero store near you, or visit one of the following other vegan-friendly ice cream parlors and restaurants:
