2013 Of the ugliest dog in the world: Beagle-Boxer-Basset called Walle WINS annual contest

PETALUMA, Calif.--an enormous head, legs of duck mixture of beagle, Boxer, and the basset hound was upset winner in 25 annual world ugliest dog contest.

Walle (WAHL-ee), a 4-year-old mutt from Chico, Calif., who entered at the last minute, was tried on Friday as the uglier of 30 dogs in the Northern California contest.

"This dog looked has been photo shopped with parts of several dogs and perhaps a few animals," judge Brian Sobel said.

Walle overcame the dominance in recent years by almost hairless Chihuahuas, ridges Chinese, or combinations of both.

Owner Tammie Barbee got the dog when he was three months old.

"People come up to me and say that the dog is not correct," said Barbee, "but I love him."

The judges said they were especially impressed by bizarre waddle of Walle's stroll.

Walle WINS $1,500 and will make several appearances in television network next week, including the "Today" from NBC and ABC show "Jimmy Kimmel Live."

The contest at the Sonoma-Marin Fairgrounds receives attention around the world, with the media from all over the world travel to Petaluma, about 40 kilometers north of San Francisco.

Organizers say that dogs are judged by their "ugliness natural classes of pedigree and mutt".
