Paul Rand: nobody in Congress 'has a strong belief in the rights of minorities that I do'

Senator Rand Paul (R - KY) is pushing with efforts at the Republican voters black and Hispanic, stating in an interview that Yahoo News not "believes there is someone in the Congress, which has a strong belief in the rights of minorities to me."

Reviews were given as a result of the controversy in the lathe to Assistant of Senator Jack Hunter, who resigned last week. Hunter, co-author of the book from Paul The Tea Party Goes to Washington, was attacked by its last radio commentary supporting the ideology neo-Confederate and denouncing the possibility of "a majority of non-whites in America".

Paul has addressed this controversy front, defending the Hunter as reflection and a talented writer whose previous work was designed to shock political.

"If I thought it was a white supremacist, he would be dismissed immediately," Paul told The Huffington Post earlier this month. "We will not tolerate, and I have not seen any evidence of that."

During an appearance at the University historically black Howard University earlier this year, Paul described his efforts to revamp the image of the Republicans to make it more appealing to minority voters.

"Frankly, it's an uphill battle, to try to convince him that we have not changed," said Howard students, referring to the older history of the Republican party as a defender of civil rights. "But that's part of me."

Paul, recognizing the scope of such an enterprise, is optimistic about his chances for points in common between the Republicans and minority communities.

"[The image of Republicans is] not something to change overnight, so I'm not realistic," the Senator said that Yahoo News. "If you were to poll American Africans only on issues without party, you'll find that they are actually sympathetic to Republican problems on many fronts [social]."

While critics often point out the ambivalence he expressed in an interview Louisville Courier-Journal's 2010 on whether he would have voted for the 1964 Civil Rights Act, Paul posture against the imprisonment for non-violent drug offences has gained favour with civil rights groups.

"Many African Americans, particularly young men, make mistakes like children and I do not think that they should be punished for the rest of their lives," he said, referring to mandatory minimum penalties for non-violent drug offences.

At the beginning of this year, Paul, and Senator Patrick Leahy (D - VT) presented a draft law that give judges more flexibility to cancel those minimums and dictate sentences more appropriate.

Suzanne Perryman: 6 secrets of special strong need Dads

Get parents alerts: Join

He recently wrote about the secrets of moms of special needs not tell you, but he heard of many parents of special needs which they felt excluded. My husband, father of Zoe was my inspiration to write about what I know about the parents of special needs.

We are in the kitchen, my husband and I, cleaning up after dinner and talking about our day. I'm saying a sweet story about Zoe, a challenge he encountered. The story ends with success and because I happily share the results, I hope his face for approval and excitement that I know your never-ending encouragement offered something depend on. On the other hand, I see still working through my words, which is still his face, caught in the moment when Zoe was vulnerable and unsure of his abilities and in that few seconds, her face filled with pain and see the pain I know living with.

1. Special parents need to suffer silently with broken hearts. These parents are productive and your daily dose of happy, but that doesn't mean that they do not wear heartbreak around. They had a dream that was also different. I see my husband clean single stray tears at unexpected moments. I can feel the pain in their quiet, breathing at night, when he is awake when it should begin to sleep. I feel the heaviness in his heart when we talk about the future and their fear that he be here for this our child. When other men hear him speak in detail of our incredible son, often, there are uncomfortable silence or even apology. Most men that we know can not speak of disappointments, difference or delay in development as well as mothers.

There are stories that I have had to say to my husband, after made stories that detail the way in which our daughter was crying, or when only his eyes are filled with tears and her lip began to tremble. Stories about the shape of a needle was injured during a hospital stay, or how someone words made her sad, or simply looked at another child - or even how an adult without knowing it was difficult for her. In times like these, my husband goes silent and tense, he controls his indignation, he retains his wrath. The simple answer is deeply significant: "I wish I could have been there".

2. Special needs parents struggle with the protector of. This is something that parents cannot successfully - protect their families. There are too many physical forces beyond their control. Special needs of the Popes also have luck getting in your face 24/7. But who comes to call in the middle of the night, in the form of a sick child physically. Destination on the phone with a new diagnosis. No matter how many precautions taken, physically present are like, what so hard they work to support his family, even how hard try you, parents of special needs you will see your pain of the experience of family and their children more and again and again.

I'm in the kitchen, put the tray of medicine for after dinner, when my husband starts to tell me a story about work, something I'm interested in and excited. The sentence interrupted Zoe. At the end of the day their words slur with fatigue, but she wants to tell her father something, so we stopped and wait while she tells her story. In the middle of the night that call Zoe for me, sometimes hours later my husband feel your hand on my shoulder. I've fallen asleep in the bed for our daughter, and he has woken up and is unable to fall back to sleep. It also needs me and expect without resentment, while I take care of our daughters first, before returning to him.
3. Special needs parents are strong. Our family life can be lonely and while they rob us of our time together, much of our marriage is about what is best for the health of our children first. When we consider steal during the weekend holidays, our hearts hurt when we think of leaving our children and what could happen in our absence or if tragedy hit them or us, taking us both of our children. Special parents need decides to put his family and are strong doing what must be done. It is the force that fuels their dedication. Maybe not all dads need special did so, but there is little room for selfishness with such force.

There are times when are brimming with concern, trying to plan and prepare for each challenge that might encounter with our daughter. I see obstacles where my husband sees opportunities and at the end of the day, when I'm tired and without words, my husband opens his arms to my daughter, she creeps into his lap and while holding him, speaks of his own life, as always try your best and why you should too.

4. Special parents need to learn how to be leaders of life. Train leaders. They lead change, advocating for and working hard to make a difference. They allow their children, encouraging them to do more and believe that they can do anything. These leaders continue to learn about the disability of his son, on the needs of your child, on the world which surrounds them. Leaders are responsible for; they do what is best for their families, choose the harder way.

"Daddddddddy," Zoe calls from your room. My husband walks down the aisle, responding to their demand. "How was your day?" she asked anxiously. She wants details, so my husband provides them. She asks silly, and he patiently answers every one. "Today I missed you, Daddy and I love you" agrees. Easily, gently return you that i love you, something he says to it every day. Crouch, touch his lips to hers as she reaches for it.

5. Special needs parents are vulnerable. I love them actively and affectionately. His touch is often the only communication, a language of love that they share with their children. Love this way comes from an open heart, a heart that trusts that is open to damage and pain.

"I miss less Pope" says Zoe. It is time to sleep and his dad is out of town, something that rarely happens. "It is not the same thing, when it no longer exists," she sighs, putting his head on my chest. Her laugh, lacks that pick you up in and has the gift of its closure.

6. Special parents need to live with purpose and perspective. My husband has found its balance of work /life, decided to be present for his family but still feeling the constant pressure to provide. Simple gifts in our everyday life, embraces: emotions, our family love, even the food we prepare together. He has learned the value of each gift in life and how important a moment can be, how not should wasted time or life lived with regret.

I hug her tight and try to soothe to sleep, knowing that nothing that can be done to fill the space that his father has in his heart there is.

NSA lost Edward Snowden has strong Maryland ties

Edward Snowden, the former employee of the Central Intelligence Agency and the national security agency contractor credited with the realization of the "fuga higher intelligence in a generation" has a series of ties important, and narrow to Maryland.

Patch:

The Guardian, the British newspaper which published most of the initial reports about secret programs, revealed his identity in an interview with Snowden. 29 Years of age are apparently hiding in Hong Kong.

Snowden grew up in Elizabeth City, North Carolina, according to the document, but his family later moved to Maryland near NSA Headquarters in Fort Meade.

He enrolled in - but not graduated, a Maryland community college and eventually enlisted in the United States Army, reports The Guardian. Later became a security guard in a center of the University of Maryland NSA before landing a job on it security with the CIA.

Snowden most recently worked as a contractor for the NSA in Hawaii, according to the newspaper.

This is what says a spokesman of the University's time of Snowden in the institution:

Susan Gross, a spokeswoman for the Anne Arundel Community College, said that a Joseph Edward Snowden took classes there intermittently since 1999, when Snowden was about 15 years, during the fall of 2005, although he never earned a degree or certificate from the school.

"We cannot confirm with certainty that it is the same person on the phone of the NSA monitoring situation as Snowden is a popular name in this area", Gross said in an e-mail.

The installation of the NSA's Maryland where he worked Snowden is supposedly in College Park. Beyond that, the newspaper of UMD, diamond, is hard to pin down specific:

Facilities and exactly where it was Snowden worked is unknown, but the NSA has connections with various university facilities, including physical science lab, the technology commercialization Office and telecommunications science laboratory.

According to the Sun, records also show that Edward Joseph Snowden listed an address in Ellicott City, Maryland, in a neighborhood about 40 miles from Washington, D.C., the Sun described as "orderly":

No one answered the door there on Sunday afternoon. House front, gray clapboard, with a dining area and a "Welcome" sign was soon swarmed with reporters and cameramen from outlets like CNN, USA Today and CBS once was revealed the identity of Snowden.

Neighbour Joyce Kinsey, who lives in nearby apartments, says Snowden has lived there since he was a teenager. She described him as quiet and said I'd see him on the computer much at home.

These links would not be enough to bring Snowden - now in Hong Kong, but apparently see asylum in Iceland - back. As he said during his interview with the Guardian, "I do not expect see page again."

Bible in Norway is Bestseller; "The Scriptures" is surprising strong in the largely Secular country

OSLO, Norway - may sound like an unlikely best-seller not. 1 for any country, but in Norway - one of the most secular Nations in an increasingly godless Europe - popularity beyond control of the Bible has caught the country by surprise. The Scriptures, in a version of new Norwegian language, even surpassed "Fifty shades of gray" to become the Best Seller of Norway.

The sudden explosion of interest in the word of God has been extended also to the stage, with a six-hour game, called "Bibelen," Norwegian for "the Bible", drawing 16,000 people in a run that just ended in one of the most important theatres in Oslo for three months.

Officials of the Lutheran Church of Norway have left to call it a spiritual awakening, but come the new interest in the Bible as proof that still resonates in a country where only 1 percent of the 5 million residents regularly attends church.

"Thoughts and images of the nature of the Bible have an impact on how we experience reality", said Karl Ove Knausgaard, one of several famous authors of Norwegians are enlisted to help with the translation.

The scholars not surprised by the success of the games or the new translation of the Bible, explaining that faith is a deeply personal matter in this Scandinavian nation taciturn regularly removed from the life of the city for holiday cottages remote in the solitude of the forest, fjords and mountains.

"Church attendance is a poor measure of the Norwegian State of faith," said post-doctoral Thorgeir Kolshus at the University of Oslo. "Religion is a very private thing for Norwegians".

Anne Veiteberg, editorial director of the Bible Society of Norway, said that probably also increased immigration has been a factor.

More than 258,000 immigrants have settled in the country during the last six years only, adding diversity of race and religion. The Church of Norway estimates that around 60 percent of immigrants are Christian, while the rest are Muslims, Buddhists or Hindus.

"Now that we are exposed to other religions, Norwegian have gotten more interested in their own faith," said Veiteberg.

Launched in October of 2011 by Norway of the Bible Society, the new translation replaces an edition of 1978, with the aim of improving the accuracy and legibility. For example, in the previous version, Maria was called "Virgin". In the new translation it is known as a "young". The Conference of Catholic Bishops of the United States also made this change in its most recent translation of the Bible in 2011, saying that change does not alter the teaching about Mary, but it was meant to deal with the possible meanings of the Hebrew word "almah" in the text.

The Bible Society of Norway promotes new translation as a novel of pop fiction, stirring anticipation giving teasers of Bible stories before its release.

It turned to poets and authors as Knausgard to sing and echoes the text for a new generation. And it was packaged in a variety of ways, targeting adolescents with pink leather or denim-covered and adults with bridal or sophisticated literary covers.

"It's easier to read," says Helga Haugland Byfuglien, Presiding Bishop of the Church of Norway. "There is no lack of the text".

Almost 160,000 copies sold and was a bestseller in Norway in 2012. Church officials acknowledge that strong marketing campaigns helped to explain the strong sales.

Like many other European Nations, Norwegians have suffered decades of secularization as religion has taken a step back to other activities. Fiercely bet by the interference of the weekends with skiing, hiking and other outdoor activities, leaving little time other than Christmas or Easter to fill the pews.

Last year, Parliament decided unanimously to put an end to the situation of the Lutheran Church as the official religion of the State.

Erik Ulfsby, artistic director of Det Norske Teatret, who put in scene the work 'Bibelen', said that although the Norwegians do not go to church, still see the Bible as an important part of its literary heritage.

"(The Church) wants that you agree with your interpretation, but the theater gives you the opportunity to think out loud and discuss the Bible," he said.

Certainly, the play, directed by Stein Winge, offered a non-traditional interpretation.

For example, instead of dying on the cross, Jesus was confined to a mental hospital and finally executed by lethal injection. And, at the wedding at Cana, show attendees saw that Jesus is portrayed as being drunk when he changed water to wine.

"Bible" is not the first religious production than Norwegians at the edge of their seats. Renowned actor Svein Tindberg has organized three monologues based on the Bible, each more successful than the previous.

In the mid-1990s, "The Gospel" was scheduled to run for 20 nights, but was such a success that made 220 nights Tindberg. His most recent production, "Children of Abraham", opened last year and has sold 52,000 tickets, compared with 1,000 expectations - surpassing "Evita" in Norway.

Despite the little Orthodox artistic interpretations that arise, the religious authorities in Norway are adopting the concept of living religion through art.

"Even if you don't believe that the core of the message, the Bible has a rich and meaningful stories", Byfuglien said. "Culture breaks religious shyness that people have in association with the Church and is a way for those who have distanced themselves to experience in an interesting way".
