Nicki Minaj Marie Claire Cover: Rapper Finally Gets The Punk Trend Right (PHOTOS)

Nicki Minaj definitely didn't get the memo about the Met Gala's punk theme, but she made up for it while striking a pose for Marie Claire's August 2013 issue.

SCROLL DOWN FOR PHOTOS

The outspoken rapper channels a polished punk in a tartan Fausto Puglisi dress for the magazine's cover, and then gets more edgy inside the glossy while rocking a faux-hawk and skin tight LaQuan Smith catsuit. These looks are a far cry from the toned down look she debuted on Elle earlier this year, but homegirl still looks good. We're just glad she stepped away from the pasties.

In fact, the 30-year-old star admitted to Marie Claire that her former over-the-top ensembles were the "craziest, weirdest, ugliest stuff" and simply an attempt to "keep up a mystique."

Well, we're glad she cleared that up -- since we shutter to think that Nicki thought this or that looked good.

The issue also boasts Nicki fielding a number of questions ranging from "will you ever do a video with your real, beautiful hair?" to "who is your secret man?" -- all inquires thought up by her nearly 17 million Twitter followers.

To read the full interview head over to Marie Claire and make sure to check out the video above for behind-the-scenes footage of Nicki's shoot.
